Olympic Day
Olympic Day is probably considered by most students as their favorite day of the school year. Olympic Day occurs on the Friday before Memorial Day weekend. The day is so popular that every year the campus is flooded with alumni who return to either work a game, lead a team, or just watch the festivities.

The day begins with the highly anticipated reveal of the teams and team leaders. Teams are created with students from every grade. Older students become big “brothers and sisters” to younger students as they work together as a team.

Following the revealing of the teams, the Olympic theme is played while a “surprise” staff member runs with the “Olympic torch” to light the Olympic Day flame. This is followed by a prayer and a student performance of the national anthem. “Let the games begin” rings out over the student body as teams head to their first official game. The morning is spent participating in a variety of games, snack time and lunch. Teams return to complete any remaining games after lunch.

The afternoon concludes with a tug of war contest between all the teams. Students in the upper grades from each team compete until only one team remains as the victor. Additional tug of war games are also included. Students in each of the grades compete against each other, staff members compete against the eighth grade, and alumni from odd and even years participate as well.

At the conclusion of the day the top three Olympic Day teams are announced. It is a fun filled day that students remember for years to come!
