Mathematics

“The world of mathematical precision is God’s world, and it is His in a unique identity.”

--Frank E. Gaebelein

Mathematics is studied as a subject in the Christian school for three reasons:  We study mathematics because God created math, because God reveals Himself in the mathematics that He created, and because God has given man the ability to understand math as God’s language of Creation.

God created the laws and principles of math which govern how His universe operates.  Man discovers God’s language of creation as he tries to explain how creation works.  Man is not the inventor of math.  Man is the one who discovers the underlying principles of mathematics that God has designed and already established in His creation.  These mathematical principles govern how things react and interact with His creation.

God’s mathematical creation reveals a glimpse of His character.  Through the study of mathematical principles, we learn that God, the creator of mathematics, is absolute, sovereign, orderly, unchanging, reliable, faithful, infinite, precise, consistent, dependable, perfect and true.
